Easter Sensory Bath

Callie and Josh both love bath time. I enjoy mixing it up every once in awhile to make it extra special. The blog, Growing a Jeweled Rose, has a lot of awesome sensory play ideas, including bath play. I completely copied this Easter bath from her. (Isn't it great to have the internet for so many ideas now!?) Neither Callie nor Josh really liked all the Easter grass in the tub because it was clinging all over them, so we took it out pretty quickly.

For this bath, I dyed the water with food coloring. I put some plastic dinosaurs in the big eggs and in the little eggs I put some of those pellets that have sponge shapes that grow when placed in water. I also added some foam eggs that stick really well to the walls when wet.

Purple water, foam Easter eggs, and plastic eggs filled with treasures!

Another Lazy Week

Here are some pictures of the kiddos playing with their tot trays this week. You can see in the background that we've also had fun playing with some Easter window clings that Grandma sent us! Thanks Grandma!!

Decorating an Easter tree

Peeling the backing off of stickers is an awesome fine motor skill.

I pulled out some file folder games that I have had in my collection since teaching Kindergarten. Callie really enjoys these, though the matching color one was too easy for her.

Putting things that go together in the correct flower pot.

Matching colors to the color words. She knows her colors. I would like to make the main folder in just black and white so she has to read the colors.

This is how the cover looks. I don't know why there isn't a picture on the blue one. They are so old I can't remember.

Working on subtraction.

What's On the Trays?

Here are our trays for this week. I bought my trays at Discount School Supply, which is pictured in my left column. You can click on it to find these trays. They are the Brawny Tough Art Trays.

A few pics from last week

We had another really busy week last week, so we didn't do a whole lot of "school" activities. I pulled a few things out here and there, but didn't take any pictures. The kids mostly played with their trays and a few other things I had out. We also dyed our Easter eggs. Here are a few pics from last week.

Playing with pattern blocks on contact paper.

Checking to see if she guessed correctly.

Listening to the sounds

Blow drying the decorative shrink wrap onto the eggs.

All done.

Fun Food Friday: A Hatching Chick

Callie has had this weird obsession with hatching eggs the last month. She keeps asking us to find some eggs for her so she can sit on them to keep them warm until they hatch. When I told her she would probably break them, she said that she would just wrap them in a blanket instead. She has been begging me to make a hatching chick for their lunch for several weeks, so I figured since Easter is on Sunday, today would be a great day for that!

What's On the Trays?

I put together a couple of Easter themed trays for the kids this week.

Spooning eggs into the bunny egg holder.

These are sound matching eggs. There are various objects in each egg, with two of each being the same. The kids have to shake the eggs and see if they can find a matching pair.

A stencil and tracing tray.

Placing the correct number of erasers into the eggs.

This is the homemade silly putty the kids made last week. I hid objects in it and they have to dig through it to find the objects and then place them next to the corresponding picture. I got the idea from here.
