Alphabet Matching

Riley, Josh, and I were hanging by ourselves this past weekend because daddy and Callie were in Michigan for a wedding. I put together a few alphabet activities for him to do. He really enjoyed both things, which was great because sometimes he gets bored with something I make for him.

The first activity I made for him involved me writing the alphabet on the white board and then he had to use magnetic letters to match them. This kept him busy for probably 15 or 20 minutes. I sat with him the whole time and we made a game of it.

The ABCs written on the white board.

Contemplating what letter to put up next.

"Mom, take a picture of me laying here with these letters." Silly boy.
The last letter.

I extended this activity since he was really enjoying it. I wrote his name at the bottom and then I told him all the letters were hiding and he had to find the right ones to make his name. He had fun searching for them.
"Take a picture of me standing here." He was really into me taking pictures of him during this.

Hmm, where is that "H".

Oh there it is!

The next day I wrote all the letters on a piece of paper and had him paint over the letters with a q-tip. He really liked this activity also.

Some playdough fun.

Making and ice cream sundae.

A sweet pic of my two cuties!

Vowel Review and Reading

Today Josh worked on a review of the letters "A" and "E". I wanted to review the vowels before moving into the rest of the letters. His activities came from the A-Z curriculum from Confessions of a Homeschooler (link in my sidebar).

Callie worked on the second unit of her Ready to Read program. She enjoys the coloring by sight word pages and really likes the word family slides.

Here is a video of Callie reading her "ig" family book for the first time.

More Letter "U"

Here are a few more of the activities that we did this last week. We finished with the letter "U", so we read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and put the letter "U" up on our coconut tree.

Callie wanted to make an umbrella also, so I printed one out for her.

More Letter "O"

Here are a few more activities that we have done this week.

Sounding out the pictures to find the vowel.

She loves this "funny words" book from Confessions of a Homeschooler. She laughs at almost every word she makes!

Letter "O" Week

This week Josh is learning the letter "O". We continued with our curriculums from Confessions of a Homeschooler and Callie is doing the Ready2Read program by the Moffatt Girls. The girls that are staying in our "classroom" are gone every other week, so we have this week to use it again. This is the first time we've been in there since Christmas!

They each made a bowl of "blueberry oatmeal" for the things in the sensory box to eat!

Matching up letter discs to the word on the paper.

Doing the octopus puzzle. Josh loves puzzles.

This is what Callie came out of her room wearing. Makes me laugh!

Color by sight word.

Gluing the "at" and "an" family apples into the correct column.

Writing the missing numbers.
