Learning About Thanksgiving

This week and next week we are learning all about Thanksgiving. We borrowed a bunch of books from the library on Thanksgiving, and I pulled a bunch of Thanksgiving activities off of the internet. The Thanksgiving activities came from Homeschool Creations, 1+1+1=1, Itsy Bitsy Learners, and A Heart 4 Home. We even made homemade applesauce, which was really yummy!

Doing a puzzle that required putting numbers in order to create a picture of a turkey. Josh still has a hard time recognizing all his numbers from 1-10.

My Little Crafter

I just wanted to share a quick post of something that Callie made. My dining room table is covered with fabric right now because I've been in a crafting mood. On her own, Callie cut up some elastic, ribbon, lace, and fabric and glued it all into a headband for our neighbor. The only thing I did was tie the ribbon for her. She even used the hot glue gun all by herself (receiving her first hot glue burn, which I told her was just a fact of life if you are crafty!) So here is a picture of the final product. I'm so proud!

We had to drive down to Fallbrook for a short two days in order to take some pictures that Nathan will be using for an upcoming painting. Check out all the fun we had!

The Letter E Week

This week Josh learned about the letter "E", using the Confessions of a Homeschooler curriculum, and Callie did a number review. One day, I pulled out a tot tray instead of doing art. This may be how I end up including tot trays during the week, rotating art and the trays. I am also not sure how to create two different trays to make them age appropriate without them each wanting the other one's tray.  I really need to work on posting more than once a week about what we are doing, because this post is very photo heavy, but I just couldn't leave any more off! Enjoy!

One day, instead of art, I pulled out a tot tray. Here they are using fine motor skills to place cheerios onto spaghetti.

Callie was matching shape puzzles and decided she wanted to create a person out of the shapes. She did this all on her own. I'm telling you, she is one creative kiddo!

I am not a good photographer and I really need to learn how to use our camera, because we have a nice one, but you can still get the idea in these pictures. I bought a pack of glow sticks at Michaels a month or two ago, and this is the second time they have played with them in the bathtub. It looks really cool, especially when there are a lot of bubbles.
