Our First Week of School and the Letter A

We started our more structured "school time" this week. I have done school time for over two years now with Callie, but this is the first year that I am using an actual curriculum. I bought two curriculum courses from Confessions of a Homeschooler, an A-Z curriculum for Josh and a K-4 curriculum for Callie. I also incorporate Montessori activities, though I took a little break from the tot trays until I can get everything figured out with our new schedule. We did do a sensory bin and sensory play dough table during our morning circle time. I forgot to take pictures of our "classroom" set up that I did in our guest bedroom, so I'll post those next week. Here are a few pics of the kids doing their lessons. This week Josh learned the letter "A" and Callie just did a review of all the letters/sounds, which she already knows but still had fun with.

Josh decorating his ABC book cover. We will put this in a binder and each week we will add a fun page of the letter he learned.

One of our art projects this week was painting some river rocks that we picked up on our trip to Yosemite.

Callie painted a ladybug, a frog, and the world. Her world consisted of both continents and states. The pink one at the bottom is California, which I think she did a great job getting the right shape! There is also a Tennessee in orange on the back, and I think the purple is supposed to be Africa. She has this thing for Africa, not sure why!
